Forget about the Great Pyramid of Giza – there\u2019s a 14m squared pyramid in Norfolk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Built in 1793 and found in the Blickling Estate<\/a>, the Blickling Park Mausoleum was designed by Italian architect Joseph Bonomi the Elder, who would go on to become the designated architect for St Peter\u2019s Basilica in Rome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It houses the remains of John Hobart, the 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire, and his two wives Mary Anne and Caroline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Made <\/a>of 190,000 Portland stone blocks – the same material used to build St Paul\u2019s Cathedral and The Cenotaph – the pyramid would\u2019ve been a bright white when it was first built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It sits proudly within Blickling Park now, and is part of a pleasant looped walk<\/a> from Blickling Hall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
