Ghosts and Folklore of Norfolk

Hidden beneath Upper St Giles is an 18th century former wine cellar that was converted into an underground rifle range in 1915. Around 10 feet below ground and stretching approximately 27 metres beneath the city, it provides an atmospheric setting for an altogether different kind of evening.
With your lantern in hand, you’ll have the opportunity to explore the old range before taking your seat as the stories begin. Expect tales of Norfolk folklore, Norwich murders, restless ghosts and stories where separating history from legend isn’t always quite as easy as it seems.

The old rifle range is an authentic historic underground space. Access is via steep stairs and there are uneven surfaces, so unfortunately the experience is not wheelchair accessible.

As you would expect from an old underground cellar, some areas can be damp and dusty. Please wear sensible, sturdy footwear and clothing appropriate for an underground environment. We also recommend bringing an extra layer as it can feel cool when sitting underground.

A toilet is available on site.

Guests are welcome to bring their own drink to enjoy during the experience.

No glass bottles or drinking vessels are permitted.
