Make Your Own Medieval Mark

Darren Leader is an independent graphic designer, researcher and educator. His work explores historic graphic design, including printers’ marks and the trademarks of medieval Norwich.

His book Logo Rewind: Trademarks of Medieval Norwich won both the History and Tradition category and the Book by Cover prize at the East Anglian Book Awards 2024. His earlier publication, Logo Redux: Renaissance European Printers’ Marks, received a silver award at the European Design Awards 2022.

This workshop is limited to just 10 participants, giving everyone plenty of space to create and receive individual guidance from Darren.

It takes place within the remains of Norwich’s medieval Hidden Street, beneath The Shoebox on Castle Meadow – a particularly fitting setting in which to revive this centuries-old visual language and create a mark of your own.

Please be aware that access to the Hidden Street involves stairs and historic uneven surfaces. The floor within the workshop space is also sloped. Please contact us before booking if you would like to discuss your access requirements.
