We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Volunteer Handy Person to help us care for our much-loved community hub and historic venue.
At The Shoebox Enterprises CIC, we bring people together through community activities, support and unique local experiences. Keeping our spaces safe, welcoming and well maintained is an important part of making that work possible – and that’s where you come in.
What the role is all about
As our Volunteer Handy Person, you’ll lend a hand with small DIY and maintenance jobs around the venue.
That might include basic repairs, painting, assembling furniture, general upkeep or occasional outdoor tidying. You’ll also help us spot and report any larger maintenance issues that need attention.
You don’t need to be a qualified tradesperson. We’re looking for someone with practical DIY skills who enjoys solving problems, working independently and taking pride in a job well done.

- Has practical DIY and basic maintenance skills
- Is friendly, reliable and able to work independently
- Can use tools safely and follow health and safety guidance
- Is happy to help with painting, repairs, furniture assembly and general upkeep
- Wants to help keep an important community space safe and welcoming
- Enjoys being part of a friendly team and making a difference locally
No formal qualifications are required – just practical skills, common sense and a willingness to get stuck in!
