Our community groups are open to all Shoebox Members. Anyone aged 18+ can join The Shoebox Membership!

Shoebox Community Norwich – Groups & Activities

There is a wide range of groups and activities to get involved in at The Shoebox! If you’d like to stay up to date on new community groups and activities and receive our weekly ‘What’s On’ email, just sign up for our newsletter and select to receive updates on Community Groups.

Community Coffee Morning  |  Every Monday, 10.30am-12.30pm

Join us for a fun, relaxed group where you can meet new people and have a chat over a cuppa to help you start your week with a smile! If you are new to The Shoebox, this group is a great place to start. No need to book or call ahead, just come along!

The Comedy Writing Group, 6:15pm – 7:45pm

Ever fancied having a go at stand-up comedy? Well, this is your chance.
Held on the first Monday of every month, this new group will be an opportunity to get together with others to discuss ideas and comedy techniques.
If you would like to join the group, please email mark@theshoebox.org.uk.

Please note – this group may involve open discussion about controversial subjects.

Baking for Wellbeing  |  Some Wednesdays, 10.30am-1pm

Pre-booking is essential. Contact The Shoebox for upcoming dates and to book your place. Email team@theshoebox.org.uk or call 01603 850309.

Come together with a friendly, supportive group to learn how to bake or cook delicious food!

Bake Club | Fortnightly on Wednesdays, 10.30am-12pm

Coffee morning style club for Baking 4 Wellbeing participants (and others) to chat and share baked items – booking is not required.

Bridges Creative Writing Group  |  Every Wednesday, 3pm-5pm

Creative writing group for people who have had, or are experiencing mental health challenges. Bring along any sort of writing to share and discuss.

Cast Off  |  Every Wednesday, 6pm-8pm

Cast Off is a chance to spend some chilled time together at the end of a busy day with others who share a love of all things stitched and knitted.  Everyone is welcome – from beginners to experts.

The Shoebox will provide all materials – wool, crochet hooks, knitting needles and patterns – all kindly donated by Shoebox member Jeanette.

Gamerados Afternoons |  First and third Thursday, 1.30pm-3.30pm

Play board games in a fun, friendly setting! Bring your own games or play some from our board games library.

They embrace the principles of the Camerados movement.

Evening Gamerados sessions are on hold from December onwards.

Gamerados Evenings |  Every 4 weeks on Thursdays, 6.30pm-8.30pm

From Thursday 9th May 2024 Gamerados will be getting together on Thursday evenings every 4 weeks to play board games at Albion Games Café on St. Benedict’s Street
Just like the regular Gamerados Afternoon sessions, they embrace the principles of the
Camerados movement.

Breakforth Craft Group  |  Second and fourth Thursday, 10.30am-12.30pm

Join this friendly craft group to try out some activities and learn new things or bring a project you’re working on to create in good company!

Hosted by Breakforth.

Autistic Adults Social Group  |  Second Thursday of the month, 1pm-3pm

Monthly meet-up for Autistic adults supported by ASD Helping Hands.

Friday Social Support Group  |  Every Friday, 12:30pm-2:30pm

This friendly, supportive group get together to talk, listen and laugh while making new friends!

…Different Day  |  Every Friday, 3pm-4pm

A group for people aged 18+ who are experiencing depression, bipolar or both. Just people sharing their views and experiences to help each other in a relaxed, respectful atmosphere. Hosted by Will Dowe from Better Together Norfolk.

Sunshine and Showers Bipolar Peer Support Group  |  Every Friday, 4pm-5pm

An additional hour to …Different Day for those experiencing bipolar to explore their experiences, challenges and successes. Hosted by Will Dowe from Better Together Norfolk.

We ask everyone who attends groups at The Shoebox to sign up as a member and contribute to our ‘pay what you can’ membership scheme.

You can sign up as a member here or on your first visit to the hub. If you let a member of the team know it is your first time visiting, they will give you a membership form to complete. There is a suggested contribution of £10 a month or £1-2 per group.
