We’d like to extend a warm welcome to all our new volunteers – and a heartfelt thank you to our existing ones who continue to give their time and energy to support our community.
You may have seen that we’ve recently been recruiting new volunteers in Norwich, and we’ve been really pleased with the response. Daren has joined us as a volunteer caretaker, helping to open up The Shoebox for groups outside of normal hours. He’s currently supporting the Cast Off group – and before he joined, he’d never tried crocheting! Now, he’s becoming quite the dab hand.
Stephen and Alison have also joined us as group assistants – if you haven’t met them yet, you’re sure to bump into them at a session soon.
We’d also like to give a huge shout-out to our existing Hub Helper volunteers and group facilitators: Wanda, Diane, Olivia, Sidney, Nicole, Abby, Dan, Charlene, Lorena, Terry and Graham – as well as our brilliant Baking for Wellbeing volunteers Lisa, Nas and Mark (when he’s not working for The Shoebox!).
Abby shared, “Being a volunteer has increased my confidence in my own ability, and I’ve made lifelong friends through volunteering at The Shoebox.”
Terry told us he’s “enjoying being a volunteer at the Bridges Creative Writing group.”
And finally, a special thank you to Sandra, Josie, Steve, Darren and Lee, who have stepped up to help host the Sunshine and Showers and …Different Day peer support groups after completing our Introduction to Peer Support training. Thanks to them, these groups can continue meeting at The Shoebox as the Better Together Norfolk service comes to an end.
We’re so grateful for everything you all do – The Shoebox wouldn’t be the same without you!
