After six thrilling years, we are sad to announce that we will cease to run tours of Norwich’s ‘hidden street’ from 14 April 2024.
The mysterious historic space that sits beneath The Shoebox has welcomed thousands of visitors over the years who have ventured deep underground to explore the layers of architecture dating from the 15th century.
The experience consistently receives glowing five star customer reviews and The Shoebox Experiences is currently number one on Tripadvisor for tours and activities in Norwich.
Venue closure
Unfortunately, we have received notice from our private landlord to terminate our lease for The Shoebox, which includes the ‘hidden street’, and to vacate the property by the end of April 2024.
Sadly, this means we will also have to cease operating our popular Lantern Light Underground Tours and Secrets of the Tunnels escape game.
We are grateful to everyone who has visited our experiences at The Shoebox. Every ticket sold has helped to support our social enterprise to enable people to connect with their communities and lead fulfilling lives. Read more about The Shoebox community.

We have expanded the range of tours and experiences we offer and will continue to run these beyond April. Our latest addition Chronicles of Christmas offers the chance to experience the magic of Christmas with a festive walking tour of Norwich. One not to be missed!

How will this affect gift vouchers?
We have adapted our gift voucher policy in response to the venue closure. All new gift vouchers purchased from 1st November 2023 will be valid against any experience for two years rather than one. Additionally, all existing unused gift vouchers that expire between 1st April and 31st October 2024, will automatically be extended by a further year.
Closing dates
- Secrets of the Tunnels escape game will close on 29 February 2024.
- Lantern Light Underground Tour will close on 17 March 2024.
- Hidden Street Tour will close on 14 April 2024.
