Celebrating 10 years of The Shoebox and building what comes next
In 2026, The Shoebox Enterprises CIC turns 10 years old.
For a decade, we’ve been creating spaces where people can connect, build confidence and shape their communities together – through our heritage experiences and our community hubs in Norwich and Great Yarmouth.
To mark this milestone, we’re launching “10 for 10” – a set of 10 goals that will help us grow our impact and strengthen what we do over the year ahead.
Our 10 goals
Below you’ll find our 10 for 10 goals – each one representing a different way we’re working to strengthen our community, support more people and secure the future of The Shoebox.

1. Buy our Castle Meadow building.
Securing a permanent home for The Shoebox in Norwich and preserving the remains of the medieval street beneath the building.

2. Raise £10,000.
To help finalise the building purchase and make improvements that ensure our Norwich community hub is a warm and welcoming space for our members.

3. Strengthen 10 existing community groups.
Recruit and train 10 volunteers to support our Norwich and Great Yarmouth groups, helping to strengthen their long-term sustainability and impact.

4. Offer 10 opportunities for local groups and organisations.
Supporting organisations to host one-off events and activities in our community hubs.

5. Offer 10 free private ‘Hidden Street’ Tours.
For nominated good causes, volunteers, schools and community groups.

6. Support at least 10 Norwich City Centre residents to become community leaders.
To grow their confidence and power to shape their local community.

7. Collaborate with 10 local corporations and businesses.
Supporting community connection and amplifying our social impact.

8. Secure 10 media and speaking opportunities.
Sharing our story and impact through press, podcasts, talks and events.

9. Offer 10 wellbeing opportunities.
Supporting staff and volunteer wellbeing and development.

10. Finish the year with a big Shoebox celebration.
Thanking our staff, volunteers, community members and supporters.
10 for 10 Updates
We’ll be sharing updates on each of these goals over the coming weeks and months, along with opportunities to get involved:
- Goal 1 – We have agreed a purchase price and secured a mortgage offer in principle, however we now need to find a surveyor to draw up floor plans of the building as there are some discrepancies that need resolving. Can you help? Get in touch below if you can.
