Baking for Wellbeing at The Shoebox is thrilled to be hosting Maths in Baking sessions to help you develop your numeracy confidence and skills!
Are you looking to build your confidence in using maths? Our Maths in Baking sessions are perfect for you!
Funded by UK Government as part of the national Skills for Life project.
What to expect…
As a small group, we will explore maths skills including estimating, measuring, timing and scaling up recipes while we bake delicious treats like shortbread and rocky road. These sessions are the perfect way to try learning maths again without it feeling like school – plus there isn’t any homework!
We’re looking for participants who are:
- Living in Norfolk
- Age 19+
- Looking to grow their confidence with numbers and using maths in day to day life
More about Multiply!
Our Maths in Baking sessions are funded through Multiply, a new government-funded programme to help adults improve their numeracy skills.
If you’re aged 19 and over and don’t have maths GCSE at grade C (or equivalent), you can access free numeracy courses through Multiply to build your confidence with numbers and gain a qualification.
Good numeracy skills lead to job opportunities or prepare you for further study. They can also help in everyday life, such as helping children with homework and budgeting money.

Meet Mark…
I have a strong interest in mental health, having had episodes of anxiety and depression throughout my adult life. I’ve had lots of support over the years and have learnt a lot about myself and how to manage my mental health.
One of the things that helps me is baking. At my lowest, I had very little confidence so even shopping was a struggle. Having a list of ingredients and instructions to follow really helped. As I baked, my confidence grew. I found anything I can lose myself in helps me to relax. Learning a new skill showed me that I could change how I was thinking. I now experiment a bit more in my baking. It doesn’t always go right but I’ve learnt that doesn’t matter!
