Escape game fans and adventurers alike can rejoice as The Shoebox opens Norwich’s historic ‘hidden street’ for tours and games 7 days a week!
We’re very excited to announce that The Shoebox team will now be running the popular Secrets of the Tunnels escape game, previously operated by History Mystery, in the historic ‘hidden street’ beneath The Shoebox at Castle Meadow.
Due to popular demand, from 1st November 2021 customers will have a greater choice of when they can attend our famous Hidden Street Tours or play our exhilarating Secrets of the Tunnels escape game.
Now available 7 days a week, customers can pick a time and date that suits them to journey deep below The Shoebox. Whether they choose to discover the hidden history of Norwich on a guided tour or compete in a race against the clock to solve puzzles and attempt to rescue our hapless historian who’s managed to get himself lost in the hidden tunnels – there’s an exciting experience for everyone!
Believed to be the first ever social enterprise operating an escape game in Norfolk, The Shoebox, a trading name for Pop Up Enterprises CIC, uses its profits to help build community and reduce loneliness and social isolation in Norwich through hosting a wide range of peer support groups and social activities in its welcoming city centre hub.
The expansion comes off the back of a surge in bookings and sold out experiences as guests seek greater thrills after lockdown and to discover more about our fine city’s rich history.
Escape game fans can rest assured that the Secrets of the Tunnels experience will remain as thrilling as before. Customer Experience Director Lisa Willett and Gamemaster Holly Smith from History Mystery will be joining The Shoebox team and overseeing both the games and tours. They’ll also be leading on the development of additional experiences including a Lantern Lit tour where guests can see our mysterious ‘hidden street’ in a whole new light.
Lisa and Holly will be familiar faces to many having previously worked in a freelance capacity running our existing guided tours. They regularly receive rave reviews so it was a natural next step to officially welcome them to The Shoebox team and bring everything together under one roof.
